Around the world, hundreds of cities and thousands of people are celebrating Car Free Day! Leave your car in the garage on Tuesday, September 22 and join the rest of the world as they walk, bike, in-line skate, take transit or telecommute to work or school. Hamilton will be celebrating Car Free Day with many exciting events that you can participate in!

Ride the HSR for free all day!  Pick up your Smart Commute wristband at any of the following locations and sign up to participate!

Bike to Work Day

Gore Park, Mohawk College & McMaster University

7:00 am to 9:00 am

Meet in various parts of the city and cycle to Gore Park to celebrate, meet fellow cyclists, eat healthy snacks, get cycling tips, and win fabulous prizes.

Downtown Car Free Walk

Gore Park to Bayfront Park

12:15 pm to 1:00 pm

Join your friends and coworkers and particiapte in the Car Free Day Mass walk.  Beginning at Gore Park, you will travel through the downtown core until reaching Bayfront Park where you will be greeted with snacks and great prizes!

McMaster Car Free Walk

Meet at the steps of Gilmour Hall at 12:20 pm to walk as a McMaster Community in support of sustainable transportation.

Other Events Occuring Throughout the Week

Bike, walk, or take transit to Gage Park and enjoy a movie night with your fellow active commuters! This event, brought to you by Transportation for Liveable Communities, is free and includes popcorn. Be sure to bring a blanket and dress warmly!
